Women's Soccer Tallies Seven All-Conference Selections; Ford Named Rookie of the Year

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the 2016 women's soccer All-Conference teams after voting was conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.

Freshman goalkeeper Daniella Ford (Dix Hills, N.Y.) was named to the First Team and the Skyline Rookie of the Year, while senior midfielder Alena Gannon* (North Babylon, N.Y.), senior defender Alexandria Tudisco (Massapequa, N.Y.), junior forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Destiny Pomarico (West Babylon, N.Y.) all garnered First Team Honors. Senior midfielder Amanda Khare (Deer Park, N.Y.) and sophomore defender Jordan Martin (Citrus County, Fla.) were each named Second Team All-Conference for FSC.

Ford backstopped the Rams to an undefeated season in Skyline play and their ninth Skyline title in the last 10 seasons after posting two clean sheets in conference championship play last week. FSC tops the Skyline with a 0.97 goals against average.

Gannon, a team captain and defensive center midfielder, appeared in 19 games with 18 starts. She recorded four points on a goal and a pair of assists.

Tudisco started every game and tallied four goals, including one against #5 Stevens. She is a shutdown defender with a great ability to get forward and attack.

Howard, the Most Outstanding Player of the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship, started 19 games this year. She led the Rams in goals (8) and was second on FSC with 18 points.

Pomarico, who appeared in every game with 17 starts, led the team in points (25), assists (11) and ranked second in goals scored (7). She recorded a team-high three game winning goals on the year.

Khare played in 20 games with 19 starts. She recorded 12 points on five goals and two assists and led Farmingdale State with three game-winning goals.

Martin, in her first season as a member of the Rams, started 20 games. She totaled three assists and anchored a defense that played nine ranked opponents.
