Dallas, Penn. - In the first game of the Misericordia Tournament, the Farmingdale State women's soccer team fell, 2-0, to non-conference opponent Rochester Institute in Dallas, Pennsylvania. The Rams now stand at 1-2-1 on the season, while the Tigers remain undefeated at 3-0.
RIT junior defender Riley Yankowich (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) opened the scoring just 1:30 into the game when she buried a loose ball off a corner kick to give the Tigers an early 1-0 advantage. The Rams were outshot 6-1 in the first half.
After the break, another corner kick by junior midfielder Emily Thiel (Seattle, Wash.) led to a second goal for Yankowich to put RIT up 2-0 with 39:33 remaining.
Tigers senior goalkeeper Kelly Rogers (Ardmore, Penn.) stopped a pair of shots the rest of the way as she earned her second shutout of the season.
FSC sophomore goalie Daniella Ford (Elmont, N.Y.) made three saves in the loss.
The Rams next play non-conference opponent Ithaca College tomorrow, Sunday, September 10th at 1:00 p.m.
