La Crosse and Oshkosh Named 2007 USTFCCCA Women's Division III All-Academic Team's of the Year

NEW ORLEANS - The University of Wisconsin La Crosse and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh women's programs have been respectively named the 2007 Division III USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Team's of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field Coaches Association announced on Monday.

Wisconsin La Crosse, the fourth place finisher at the Division III indoor nationals, carries a cumulative 3.400 team grade-point average. The Eagles placed 10 student-athletes on the USTFCCCA Women's Individual All-Academic team, which was named last week.

Wisconsin Oshkosh becomes the outdoor team of the year after winning their second consecutive Division III outdoor title and eighth overall. UW Oshkosh scored 57 points to win their third title in four years.

"Our women's track & field program always strives for excellence in academics and athletics. To be named the Division III All-Academic Outdoor Team of the Year is a tremendous honor. It caps a great outdoor season for UW Oshkosh women's track and field," head coach Deb Vercauteren said.

The Titans carry a 3.290 cumulative team grade-point average and placed nine student-athletes on the USTFCCCA Women's Individual All-Academic team.

Whitworth College topped the Division III Women's list with a 3.629 cumulative GPA, with Nazareth College (3.572) and Hope College (3.570) rounding out the top three All-Academic teams.

In all, 73 Division III Women's programs were recognized as 2007 All-Academic Track and Field Teams. The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference led all conferences with eight All-Academic teams.
