Farmingdale State women’s volleyball opened up the 2005 season with a victory, as they swept John Jay College in three straight games on Wednesday night. Junior Gina Moscato (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) led the way for the Rams with 15 kills and 13 digs. Megan Cranmer (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) finished with 15 assists, Melissa Rudy (Dix Hills, NY/Hills East) had 9 kills and Elena Albert (Dix Hills, NY/Hills East) recorded 12 digs. Freshman Brittany Baran (East Northport, NY/Commack) served a game-high five aces in her first collegiate contest, along with 2 blocks.

Chiara Baruffaldi (Ossining, NY/ Ossining) recorded 14 assists and four digs in the loss for the Bloodhounds. Meredith McGinnis (Nashville, TN/ Nashville Christian) recorded six kills and nine digs.

Farmingdale travels to Allentown, Pennsylvania this weekend to compete in the Muhlenburg College Buttermaker Invitational Tournament. The Rams will play two games on Saturday, including Dickinson College at 4pm and Montclair State at 6pm. Game times for Sunday are to be determined by the winners of each pool.
