Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team traveled to Ramapo College for the Roadrunner Invitational on Friday evening and fell to both Middlebury and Ramapo. The Rams opened the night with a 3-1 loss versus Middlebury and were defeated 3-1 in the second match against the home Roadrunners.
In the match versus Middlebury (6-2), FSC (5-5) was led by sophomore setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) who tallied a season-high 17 kills to go along with 13 digs and six assists, while senior middle blocker Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) added 10 kills and five solo blocks. Junior setter Lauren Anne Strezenec (Merrick, N.Y.) pitched in with 29 assists, 12 digs and three service aces for the Rams.
Junior outside Isabel Sessions (Chicago, Ill.) paced the Panthers with a team-high 15 kills, while senior right side Eliana Schaefer (Bethesda, Md.) and senior outside Becca Raffel (Palo Alto, Calif.) each recorded 10 kills. Freshman setter Emma Walsh (Wichita, Kan.) had game-highs in both assists (35) and digs (17) in the victory.
Against Ramapo (10-2), Hande tied her season-high in kills with 17 and picked up a team-best 23 digs, while junior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) had seven kills and 14 digs. The Roadrunners were led by senior outside Larysa Iwaskiw's (Westwood, N.J.) game-high 26 kills.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Mount Saint Mary for their Skyline Conference opener on Tuesday, September 26th at 7:00 p.m.
