Farmingdale State - 3, Mount Saint Mary - 1 (25-18, 25-19, 19-25, 25-19)
Newburgh, N.Y. - In their first Skyline Conference match of the season, the Farmingdale State women's volleyball team traveled to Mount Saint Mary College on Tuesday night and won, 3-1. The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead and after dropping the third set, 25-19, closed out the match with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set.
Farmingdale State (6-5, 1-0) was led by sophomore setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) who tallied match-highs in both kills (11) and digs (19), while adding three blocks. Senior middle blocker Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) also had 11 kills to go along with a match-high six blocks and junior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) had seven kills, 13 digs and four blocks. Junior setter Lauren Anne Strezenec (Merrick, N.Y.) totaled 31 assists and nine digs in the victory.
Sophomore outside Madelyn Barberan (Fishkill, N.Y.) and sophomore middle blocker Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) each recorded a team-high six kills for the Knights (3-14, 0-1), while senior libero Julimar Figueroa (Dorado, Puerto Rico) had a team-high 16 digs and three service aces.
The Rams next will play host to Sarah Lawrence in a Skyline Conference match on Thursday, September 28th at 7:00 p.m.
