Farmingdale State - 3, Sarah Lawrence - 0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-14)
Bronxville, N.Y. - Junior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) recorded a match-high 11 kills, five blocks and .667 attacking percentage to lead the Farmingdale State women's volleyball team to a 3-0 Skyline win over Sarah Lawrence College on Thursday evening. The Rams improved to 5-12 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Gryphons dropped to 3-6, 0-1.
FSC trailed 24-20 in the opening set and scored five straight points to take a 25-24 advantage. Leading 27-26, freshman outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) tallied the winning kill off the set from freshman Angie Yarrow (Absecon, N.J.) to put the Rams ahead, 1-0.
In the second set, Farmingdale State fell behind by five, 18-13, but would outscore Sarah Lawrence 12-2 the rest of the way to earn a 25-20 victory. The Rams cruised through the third set and won 25-14 to complete the 3-0 sweep of the Gryphons.
Yarrow finished with a match-high 32 assists, while senior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) tallied 11 kills and five digs. Flamio produced eight kills and a match-high four service aces in the win.
Freshman setter Isabel Pecora (Potsdam, N.Y.) recorded team-high's with 17 assists and three aces for Sarah Lawrence.
Farmingdale State next competes at the Franklin & Marshall Scramble on Saturday, September 29th. The Rams will first faceoff with host school Franklin & Marshall at 10:00 a.m. and follow with a match against Stockton at 12:30 p.m.
