FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State baseball team opened their 2025 schedule with a home doubleheader against No. 23 Ramapo College on Saturday afternoon. The Rams fell to the Roadrunners, 8-3, in game one, before falling in the second game, 15-10.

Senior pitcher and pre-season All-American selection Johnny Dougherty (Kings Park, N.Y.) started game one for FSC (0-2) and struck out eight batters across three innings pitched.

Ramapo (2-1) then found themselves ahead 5-0 heading into the eighth inning and extended their lead to six on an RBI double. The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the inning on an RBI ground out by freshman shortstop Kaolis Delacruz (Levittown, N.Y.).

Farmingdale State was down 8-1 and tallied a pair of runs on a Richie Heyder (Holbrook, N.Y.) double and a Ryan Plocker (Dix Hills, N.Y.) ground out as they fell by a score of 8-3.

Senior third baseman Tyler DiRocco (Commack, N.Y.) was the only Ram with a multi-hit game, finishing with two hits.

In game two, Farmingdale State trailed 9-0 going entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but scored seven runs, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple by Heyder, to cut their deficit to only two.

Ramapo quickly responded with a six-run seventh to regain an eight-run advantage at 15-7.

FSC fought back with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but fell 15-10.

Heyder finished with one hit, a walk, three runs batted in and one run scored, while senior first baseman Jordan Lambert (Plainview, N.Y.) had one hit and two RBI's. Delacruz went 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs and one run batted in and junior third baseman James Manzella (Baldwin, N.Y.) produced a hit and two RBI's.

Farmingdale State next returns to action on Saturday (March 8) when they host Hobart College for a doubleheader at 11:00 a.m.
